One. Whole. Year.
I’m surprised it’s gone by so quickly, but yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the Leaves and Pages blog. It’s been fun, and I definitely want to keep going.
So many books, so many books …
So without any further ado, I am announcing a
BOOK GIVE-AWAY
in honour of the occasion, and as a small way of saying “Thank You” to all of the other blog readers and writers who have brought me so much enjoyment this neophyte year.
I have acquired three handsome Folio editions of books I’ve read and enjoyed, and much as I am tempted to hoard them away like a miser squirrelling coins, I am going to be all brave and noble and send them out into the world. (That’s why I bought them, after all. And I was thrilled when I found them – “Perfect for the Blog Birthday,” I thought immediately. They were all purchased as “second-hand” but they are crisp and clean and beautiful and all three seem to be unread. These are truly deluxe editions, and I hope they will find good homes where they will be opened up and properly READ.)
So here we go. To take part in the giveaway, simply leave a comment on this post, telling me which book you’d like to try for. I’ll do the draw the old fashioned way, names on slips of paper to be drawn “out of the hat” – the winners will be announced and then we can arrange about addresses to mail them to and so on.
Anyone from anywhere is welcome to participate.
And please do – the more the merrier!
Drumroll, please…

Happy blog birthday! I always enjoy your posts, and you’ve definitely added to my TBR stacks & lists. I’m putting my name in for the Father Brown stories, please – I’ve never read them.
Thanks so much, Lisa. Isn’t this the best part of the book blogging world, finding new-to-us authors & titles? Love it! You’re in for Father Brown. Good luck!
Happy, happy blog birthday, Barb! I can’t believe it has only been one year – it feels like you’ve been around for ages (in the very best way possible). Please count me in for the draw for the Father Brown stories.
Thank you, Claire. It’s been a lovely year, and yes, it does often feel like much longer. 😉 Your name’s in the hat for FB. Really nice edition; I *love* the illustrations. Good luck!
A year? Oh my gosh, I thought you’d been around forever, like Simon and DGR. That means I’ve been following you for most of the time.
Happy Anniversary
(I’ll pass on the book draw, thanks.)
Nope, only a year. Though I have been a reader & occasional commenter on other people’s blogs for quite a few years previous to finally taking the step & joining in myself. 🙂 Are you sure I can’t tempt you to try for one of the books? The Josephine Tey in particular is quite a marvelous read. (Though maybe you already have them all..) 🙂
I love your blog! Would love a chance for The Greengage Summer. Thanks!
You’re in! Good luck!
I am surprised your blog is only one year old. I feel that I’ve been enjoying your writing for much longer than that! Congratulations! I would love to be in the running for The Franchise Affair. All three books are very good and very good looking!
As usual, I’m all behind-hand, so Happy Birthday to you and your blog.
I look forward to another year of reading your fascinating posts. Thank you, L&P.
Thank you so very much for the kind words! And would you like to enter the draw, BR? Do any of the three tempt you at all?
Dear leavesandpages,
Happy Birthday on your 1 year of blogging and thanks for having a giveaway.
I would like to win the Greengage Summer.
I’ve just followed you too and hope to see more interesting post for the many years to come…
Cheers, *wisher*
Thanks so much! Your name’s in the Greengage Summer hat. (Well, to be quite honest, I’m using three little plastic tubs sitting, appropriately, on the bookshelf. But “hat” sounds so much better!) 😉
No Problems… Heehee… hope to see the results soon.. cheers.. =P
Aw, happy happy blog birthday! These books look so so beautiful. I’d love to win Greengage Summer — Rumer Godden’s been one of my favorite authors since I was tiny.
You’re in, Jenny. Good luck!
Happy blog birthday! I’m rather new here and actually don’t feel quite justified to enter for the giveaway, but the folio editions are just too tempting! Such beautiful volumes. I have enjoyed reading Chesterton’s collection of essays but have not really tried his Father Brown stories. This would be the perfect opportunity, if you don’t mind putting my name into the hat. Thanks!
Welcome, Michelle!
You’re in. 🙂
I clicked over from your comment on my Rumer Godden post and here I find you have a one year blogging anniversary! I feel it might sound a bit strange congratulating you coming here for (I think?) the first time. But I’m going to anyway, because your blog looks wonderful and I hope you will continue with it, and find joy in it, for at least a few more years! I feel very rude for wanting to enter for the Rumer Godden folio edition but I don’t think I can resist the chance?
Hello, Iris, you’re most welcome to join in the draw! I’m so glad you dropped by to visit the blog. I found *yours* by following a link on Captive Reader’s blog – we all find each other eventually, it seems, though it sometimes takes a while – “web” is such an apt term for this venue! I enjoy discovering new-to-me like-minded bloggers, especially those who’ve been at it for a while, because then one gets the fun of exploring their archives. 🙂 I’ll definitely be visiting yours again! ~Barb
[…] Happy Birthday to Me (okay, my blog, really) and a Folio Books Give-Away to celebrate! […]
Happy Anniversery! Oh to be one year old again! LOL Thanks for the giveaway. I’ll put my name in for the Josephine Tey; an author I’ve always wanted to read
Done! 🙂
Happy blog birthday! My name is Nancy! I was just hanging around, and just found your blog today. I’m so happy to know that you are giving away some books. If you put my name in for the Greengage Summer, I’ll really appreciate it. Thanks a lot! I enjoy reading your blog! 🙂
Thank you, Nancy! I’m glad you stopped by. I’ve just entered your name in the draw. Good luck!
I’m not entering my name for the books, but just wanted to say congrats on your blog birthday. I enjoy your posts.
Thank you so very much! I do very much enjoying reading yours as well. 🙂
Congrats on a full year — it’s true that your blog feels like it’s been around much longer — such erudite posts add weight, I guess! 🙂
I have a similar Greengage & it is so beautiful! The only 1 here I haven’t read is the Josephine Tey so I’ll toss my name in for that one.
Thank you for the kind words! You’re in the Tey draw as of right now. 🙂
