I usually don’t pay much attention to these sorts of things, but in this case, as I have been nominated by a definitely inspiring blogger herself, I have decided to play along. So here goes. 🙂

7 Facts About Me

  1. I have too many cats (currently three with indoor privileges plus two adorable barn cats) and if I could get away with it I would have still more. My family warns me that I am already in Crazy Cat Lady territory… but I remind them that they brought all of these feline waifs and strays home, so they need to share responsibility. 😉
  2. I am afraid of heights.
  3. But at the top of my “wish to visit” list is The Grand Canyon. (And yes, I will look over the edge. I also plan to hike the trail down and back.)
  4. I have not had television since 1988. (More time for reading!)
  5. My favourite colour is blue. (Any shade will do.)
  6. Tea versus coffee. (With sugar and milk, please.)
  7. Alone among my female friends, I have never (yet) dyed my hair. (Though in my childhood years I yearned for “raven tresses” just like Anne; her cautionary tale kept me from experimenting on my own carroty-tinted locks.)

Claire at The Captive Reader – a fellow British Columbian, who shares many of my bookish tastes. We haven’t yet met in person, but one day the stars will align. 🙂

Moira at Clothes in Books – I *love* this blog! Moira finds and posts pictures of real-life examples of clothing described in a vastly eclectic array of books, and she shares my love of vintage authors such as the incomparable Margery Sharp.

 Jenny at Reading the End – Laugh-out-loud funny at times, and always wonderfully articulate, Jenny shares her views on an eclectic selection of books from YA fantasy to classic literature to current bestsellers.

Lisa at TBR 313 – Excellent reviews and personal thoughts on old books, new books, and everything in between. One of those dangerous blogs which lengthen my own reading list immensely!

Bentley Rumble – His posts are occasionally dark, and always erudite. Writer Bentley Rumble sends thought-provoking dispatches from Australia on books, writing, poets, their poetry, and the complex joys of jazz.

Nan at Letters From a Hill Farm – Books, music, poetry and the joys and occasional tribulations of country life, gardening and family. (Two adorable new grandbabies have put a bit of a kink in Nan’s frequency of posting, and rightly so. Thanks for sharing these glimpses into your world, Nan!)

Ali at Heavenali – Who always seems to be reading what I’m reading 🙂 which is quite a lovely thing all round! A trusty source of  new-to-me authors and books, too.

John at The Book Mine Set – “The book blog with a Canadian bias”, and home to the Annual Canadian Reading Challenge. An utterly eclectic blog of all things literary and Canadian and Far North-y. Graphic novels, Can Lit classics, short stories, new writers – the field is wide open.

Kaggsy’s Bookish Ramblings – Literary reflections which enlighten and entertain. I’ve been inspired by Kaggsy to tackle some writers I’d long been intimidated by – such as Lawrence Durrell, Marcel Proust, and Sylvia Plath, to note just a few – and her (virtual) guidance has been most helpful.

Jane at Fleur in Her World – I am running out of superlatives to describe all of these inspiring bloggers! Jane’s blog is always interesting, and our tastes run along the same lines, which means she is another dangerous bookish friend as my reading list expands with every visit. 😉 (And I see she is reading Margery Sharp’s much-too-obscure Four Gardens right now – I am deeply curious as to what her response will be.)

Vicki at Bibliolathas – From Australia, Vicki eloquently muses on what she’s reading and the associations inspired by books. Most recently, pineapples. It works brilliantly as a theme, too. Go see!!!

Okay, I need to pick four more, and the candidate list is so darned long. No matter who I pick, some deserving bloggers will be left unmentioned, so I’m flouting the rules and quitting right here. You are ALL inspiring!!! So many unique voices; so many glimpses into so many lives; so many articulate people writing on so many diverse topics!
